Black Hella BMW e30, e34, e32 Headlights DIY

Black Hella Headlights for e30, e34 or e32 are pretty good looking but also are extremely hard for finding, especially in good condition.
Always there is an option for new pair, but prices are insane.
Why not assemble a pair yourself?
It’s not as hard as it seems.
In this article I’ll show you step by step How to assemble one perfect pair Black Hella/Bosch Headlights for BMW e30, e34 or e32, using your original Headlights.
They will be with perfect functionality and looking!

1. This is all necessary tools which you need.

2. Second step is disassembling the headlights on parts.
For removing the headlights from their support you will need of thin pliers.
It’s good idea to spray some lubrication on the mountings for easier removing.

3. Now it next the most hard step.
Removing the lenses from headlights.
Start with Hot Air gun and be very patient.
Here the secret is very well heating and very carefully work with some screwdriver or knife.
Do not press strong when you try to remove the lens. It’s very fragile.
When lenses are removed it’s time for a break!
You are such a master! Now you have to clean the old glue from lenses and headlights. It’s very important for proper glued with new polyurethane.

     4. When everything is removed it’s time for cleaning.
The reflectors and the zooming lens have to be perfect cleaned.
But be careful, the reflector coating is very special and it’s easy to be scratched or compromised.
Never use degreaser on it.
It’s good to lubricate all moving parts, like adjustments and mountings.
Also if there is some rust, it must have been removed.

5. Next step is preparing for painting and painting.
All parts which will be coated with black painting must be prepared.
First they have to be very well cleaned and degreased. After that you can start with the sandpaper.
Final work is the painting.
It must have done in no less of three layers of paint.

6. Now you have to drill the high beams for crosses putting.
For that you need a pair of crosses for measurement and a drilling machine.
We are selling Crosses here
Be careful with reflective coating, it can be easily scratched.
When drilling is done carefuly put the Crosses in the holes.

7. Now it’s time for putting the new polyurethane. I recommend using of Sika.  Do not put a lot of PU, because when you put the lenses back to headlight the glue will be visible inside the headlight. 24 hours are completely enough for dry the glue. Final step in assembling all parts together backwards. Do not forget to put new bulbs everywhere.
Now it’s a lot of easier than when the headlights are on the car.
When you put headlights on the car do not forget to adjust them, because there is definitely a need.

8. It’s time to open a beer, a lot of photos and sharing with all of your car enthusiast friends / social media posts…
